The Vibe

This place is honestly one of those spots that surprises you. On paper it sounds like a gimmick — hot spring campsite in Bentong? But once you're there, soaking in warm water while a cold mountain stream runs literally next to you, you get it. The owner, Mr. Kenny, likes to say it's the only place in Malaysia where you can have both a hot spring and a cold water stream side by side. I believe him. I haven't come across another one like it.

The farm itself grows tropical fruits — duku langsat, durian, the works. So the surroundings are lush, shaded, and smell like actual countryside. Not manicured resort greenery. Real kampung farm greenery. The crowd here is a mix — families, couples, groups of friends, even international visitors. It pulls in people who want a bit of comfort with their nature fix. Think glamping-leaning, not hardcore jungle camping.

The vibe at night is chill. Romantic lighting around the pools, cool evening air, the sound of the stream in the background. Campers tend to quiet down after 11pm naturally. Nobody's here to party till 3am. They're here to relax, and it shows.

Getting There

The address is Batu 9, Jalan Kuala Lumpur Lama, 28700 Bentong, Pahang. That's the old KL-Bentong road — Jalan Lama, not the highway. From KL, head towards Bentong via the Karak Highway, exit at Bentong town, then navigate to Jalan Kuala Lumpur Lama. The campsite is at Batu 9 along that stretch.

Good news — the road is suitable for all cars. No 4WD needed, no rocky jungle track nonsense. Normal sedans can get in without drama. What to Expect

This is a managed campsite — not a wild forest clearing. Your lot is assigned, tent packages can be rented, and there's actual infrastructure in place. Lots vary in size and location; corner lots like Lot 19 are popular because they're close to the toilets and wash basins. Bigger lots go for around RM150, and tent rental packages start at RM285 for the first night (add RM100 for the second night). The package comes with an air mattress, bed sheets, pillow, blanket, two fans, cooking table, chairs, and a stove. You just bring your food.

The hot spring pools are the main draw — three of them, graded by temperature (hottest, hotter, hot). There's also a kids' wading pool at normal temperature and an open hot spring pool. You can hop between the cold stream and the hot pool as many times as you like, all day and night — the pools are open 24 hours. At night, the whole area is lit up with warm lighting. It's genuinely nice.

If you're the type who needs absolute silence to sleep and gets bothered by highway noise in the distance — bring earplugs. There's a highway somewhere not too far away, and on quiet nights you can faintly hear it. Not a dealbreaker for most people, but worth knowing.

This place suits families, couples, and first-time campers well. It's also great for groups who want to makan, lepak, and soak without roughing it too hard. Hardcore wilderness types might find it too tame — but that's not who this place is for.

Toilets

Basic setup but clean and well-maintained. Multiple reviewers called them clean, which is actually high praise for a campsite toilet. Hot showers available — and yes, the hot water is real.

Water

Wash basins near the toilet area appear to be fed by hot spring water — reviewers noticed the water stays warm throughout the day. Good for washing dishes. Drinking water is available on site.

Electricity

Fans are included in the tent rental package — two per lot. So some electricity access is provided through the rental. Bring a powerbank for your devices.

Hot Spring Pools

Three graded hot spring pools, one kids' wading pool, and a natural cold water stream right alongside. Open 24 hours. The temperature is warm rather than scalding — comfortable for a long soak.

Cooking Facilities

Stove, cooking utensils (minus plates and cutlery — bring your own), long camp table and chairs all included with the tent rental package. Wash basins with soap available for cleaning up.

Available on site. Road access is suitable for all vehicle types.

Other Amenities

They sell ice, coconuts, and ice cream on site. Hair dryers available at the shared facilities area. Freezer access at certain lots.

What Campers Are Saying

A group of eight Korean family members who glamped here had zero complaints. They were blown away by the hospitality — Mr. Kenny personally brought them duku langsat from the farm to try. One of them wrote an entire paragraph in Korean, which says something. When the guests are moved enough to switch languages, you know the host did something right.

One camper who stayed two nights pointed out something the owner proudly mentions — the negative ions from the running stream. Whether or not you buy the science, the overall effect is real: the air feels fresher, you sleep better, and you leave feeling genuinely recharged. He also noted the tent package is actually comprehensive — air mattress, bed sheets, fans, cooking setup. His honest caveat: basic setup, not for fussy city people. If you need four-star finishing, look elsewhere.

A couple who took Lot 19 mentioned it's one of the better spots — corner lot, very close to the toilets and the wash basin. Evening breeze was cooling, and the campsite naturally quieted down by 11pm. They're going back.

One solo camper who went on a non-peak weekend noted minimal insects and animals, and described it as genuinely calm. Only gripe was that the toilet finishes could use some work — cosmetically, not hygiene-wise.

Multiple people mentioned mosquitoes in the morning — not terrible, but they're there. Arm yourself with repellent, especially around dawn.

Go on a weekday or non-peak weekend if you can. The campsite has a quieter, more personal feel when it's not packed — and Mr. Kenny has more time to look after you properly. If you're renting the tent package, mention when you book that you want a corner lot (like Lot 19) — better breeze, closer to facilities. And don't forget to ask about whatever fruit is in season. If durian season aligns with your trip, Mr. Kenny has been known to reserve some for his guests. That's not something you want to miss.
