Rasa Hill Campsite — The Family Camping Upgrade You Didn't Know You Needed
The Vibe
Rasa Hill is not a rough-it-out camping spot. Let me be clear about that from the start. This is a managed, well-run campsite that sits somewhere between proper camping and a resort — think elevated platforms, swimming pools, clean toilets, and staff who will literally wheel your gear from the car to your tapak. If you've been dragging your family to campsites with dodgy loos and zero facilities, this might be the one that changes everyone's mind about camping.
The crowd here is mostly families — young kids, strollers, cooler boxes packed with everything. You'll see couples too, but Rasa Hill really shines when you bring the little ones. The pools are a massive draw. There are four of them across the site — a kids' wading pool with a playground inside the water, an adult pool, and over at Zone A, even a heated pool and jacuzzi. On weekend afternoons, the pool area turns into a full-on splashfest. Kids go absolutely gila. Parents lepak at the side. Nobody wants to leave.
The site is divided into zones — Zone A has more of a jungle deck feel, Zone C is more open and modern with platforms and sunshades. Neither zone feels cramped. There's real breathing room between tapaks, and the management actively tries to give you privacy — one reviewer mentioned they were told no one was checking in next to them for the whole stay. That kind of hospitality is rare for a campsite.
Getting There
The address is Lot 511, Jalan Besar, Kampung Sungai Engkak, 44300 Rasa, Selangor. From Petaling Jaya, it's just over an hour depending on traffic — around the same timing as heading to Batang Kali. You'll pass through Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) direction if you're coming from KL.
The access road can be a bit sketchy for a low sedan — one reviewer flagged it's manageable but tight. An SUV, MPV, or 4WD makes the drive significantly more comfortable. Don't bring your Myvi and expect a smooth ride on the final stretch. That said, once you reach the loading area, the staff take over with their wagons — they'll cart everything to your platform for you.
Once you're in Rasa town, you're only about 7 minutes from the campsite. KKB and Batang Kali are 15 minutes away if you want more food options. Rasa town itself has enough for a quick meal run.
What to Expect
This is firmly beginner and family territory. The platforms come with sunshades, each tapak has its own sink and plug point, and the whole place is maintained daily by the team. Jeremy, the owner's son, checks in regularly to make sure everything's running properly. The level of hospitality here genuinely surprised people — multiple reviewers compared it to resort-level service, not a campsite.
There's no river on-site — if a river experience is what you're after, look elsewhere. But the pools more than compensate, especially for families with young kids. Mobile signal is strong across the site — full bars, multiple telcos. Common areas are available near the pool in Zone C for group hangs. Ants and mosquitoes are around, as expected — bring insect repellent, don't skip it.
If you want a rawer, more forest-y feel, Zone A is the one to book — deck camping, more trees, less open. Zone C is polished and convenient but doesn't feel wild. Know what you want before you book. Syabas (piped municipal water). Not river water, not collected rainwater. Proper tap water.

24-hour plug points at every individual tapak. Common area has four sockets plus fans. Charge everything without a worry.
Sink
Individual sink at each platform. Convenient for washing up at your own tapak. Note — no sink near the common/food area, so you'll need to plan around that.
Pools
Four pools total — kids' pool with in-water playground, adult pool, and two more at Zone A including a heated pool and jacuzzi. Probably the best pool setup of any campsite in Selangor right now.
Parking
Available but a bit far from the actual tapaks. That's why the staff with wagons exist — and why having your own wagon helps.
Lighting
Site lighting is adequate. Common area is well-lit.
Telco
Full bars across multiple networks. No dead zones reported.
Camp Store
None on-site. No ice, no butane, no canned drinks sold by management. Sort yourself out before arriving.
What Campers Are Saying
Shireen came with her family and immediately noted the privacy factor — management told them upfront that no one was booking next to them, so they had an entire platform to themselves. When the heat got to her toddler, a camp officer proactively set up a canopy in the common area without being asked. Then it rained. That canopy ended up being a blessing. That kind of attentiveness is something you just can't put a price on.
Zaid did a 3 days 2 nights stay at Zone C and summed it up as easily top 3 campsites he's ever been to. His main gripe? No ice or butane for sale. Minor thing. His highlight was the pool — specifically calling it the best pool setup he's seen at any campsite. He also pointed out that those wanting more forest vibes should book Zone A, not Zone C.

Sudesh gave the most detailed breakdown — lots 18 and 21 in Zone C are closest to the baby pool, which he says are the best spots to book if you're coming with young kids. TAHAN Tip
Book early if you're planning a weekend trip — and when you do, call ahead (010-947 3288) to request a platform away from neighbours. Management does try to accommodate this, and it makes a massive difference to the experience. Also, there's genuinely no shop on-site. Butane, ice, drinks, insect repellent — stock up in Rasa town or KKB before you roll in. Don't assume you can grab anything once you're there.
And if you're camping with kids who are going to spend half the trip in the pool and the other half running between platforms, bringing a proper sleeping setup matters more than people think — wet kids, post-swim tiredness, afternoon naps on a hard platform are no fun.
