The Vibe

Janda Baik has grown as a camping destination. The Fishing Village Campsite sits in Kampung Janda Baik and it leans hard into the comfortable side of camping. This is not roughing it. Think shared kitchen with a proper fridge, hot water in the toilets, a fish pond, and fairy lights at night. It's the kind of place your mak would actually agree to camp at.

The crowd here is mostly families — parents with young kids who want the nature experience without the suffering. But if you want a clean, relaxed weekend with the kids splashing in the river and maybe catching a fish or two? Memang sesuai.

The vibe is chill, maintained, and genuinely welcoming. The owners are hands-on and helpful — that makes a big difference. It's a relatively new campsite but already running really smoothly.

Getting There

Head towards Bentong from KL via KARAK Highway. Take the Bentong exit and follow signs towards Janda Baik. Once you're in Janda Baik town, the campsite is in Kampung Janda Baik — plug the number into Google Maps (CID: 4628980005534749129) and it'll take you right there. The address is along Janda Baik, 28750 Bentong, Pahang.

Road is paved and accessible for normal cars. No 4WD needed. About 1.5 to 2 hours from KL depending on traffic. If you're going on a Friday night, leave early — the Karak stretch can get heavy.

What to Expect

Flat campsite with individual lots, each with its own power plug point. Yes — electricity at your tent spot. That's actually rare and super convenient, especially if you're bringing a fan or need to charge devices. The area is well-lit at night so it doesn't feel eerie or isolated.

There's a fish pond on-site where you can try your luck at fishing for a small extra charge. The river is right across the campsite — clean, cool, and shallow enough for kids to wade in safely. Mosquito levels are notably low for a jungle-adjacent campsite — something multiple visitors have confirmed.

This place is built for families and first-timers — a perfect entry point if you want to try camping with comfort and minimal stress. Kitchen

Shared kitchen area that's actually well-stocked. Fridge, gas stove, basins, knives, water dispenser with both hot and cold function. You genuinely don't need to bring much cooking gear.

Toilets

Four toilets with hot water. Multiple reviewers called them hotel-grade. For a campsite, that's kind of unheard of. Kept clean throughout the stay.

Water

Coway water dispenser on-site — filtered water, hot and cold. No need to haul in distilled water from 7-Eleven.

Electricity

Each camping lot has its own power plug point. Charge your powerbank, run a small fan — sorted.

Lighting

The campsite is beautifully lit up at night with fairy lights — creates a welcoming atmosphere after dark.

Fish Pond

Available for fishing at RM10 per rod. Good activity to keep the kids busy.

Swimming Pool

There's a pool on-site. Safe for children.

River Access

The river is just across the campsite — short walk, clean and cool. Good for a dip during the day.

Bike Rental

Available from a nearby shop. Not directly at the campsite but close enough.

Parking

Available at the campsite. No specific mentions of it being a problem.

What Campers Are Saying

Edwin, who camped here with his family, said the shared kitchen was one of the best he's seen at any Malaysian campsite — fridge, knives, tables, the works. He also mentioned the mosquito count was surprisingly low. Coming from someone who's camped around, that's worth paying attention to.

Shinna brought her family with kids and said this is genuinely one of the best setups for new campers. The fish pond was a highlight — her kids loved the RM10 rod fishing session. She also called the landlords super friendly and helpful, which you can feel in how well the place is maintained.

Rohaya raved about the hotel-grade toilets with hot water and the Coway dispenser. She specifically said you don't need to bring distilled water — which if you've ever lugged 10 bottles of water to a campsite, you know how much of a relief that is. The shared kitchen is well-equipped, but bring your own eating utensils — plates, cups, cutlery — to be fully prepared. Also, if you want the riverside spot for the day, go early. Janda Baik gets busy on weekends and the popular spots fill up fast, especially school holidays and long weekends.

One more thing — since each lot has a power plug, bring a small extension cord or multi-plug adaptor. That single plug point goes a long way if you've got a fan, phone charger, and lantern all needing juice.
