The Vibe

Let's be clear upfront — this is not a pitch-your-tent situation. Senjana Glamping Resort is fully managed glamping, meaning the tent is already set up for you, the bed is made, and yes, there's aircond. If you came looking for a place to test your new shelter setup, wrong address. But if you've been staring at your screen for weeks thinking I just need to get away — this is the place.

It's in Yan, Kedah. And yeah, I know what you're thinking — Yan? That place on the highway I've driven past a hundred times going north? Exactly that. And somehow, tucked right by the sea there, someone built something genuinely lovely. You've got Gunung Jerai as your backdrop, the Straits of Malacca in front, and at sunset the whole sky just goes. The kind of sunset that makes you stop mid-sentence.

The crowd here is mostly families and couples — people who want to feel like they're camping without actually roughing it. Zero judgment from me. Not everyone needs to sleep on the ground to appreciate nature. This place is for the ones who want the sound of waves at night but still need proper air-con to function the next morning.

Getting There

The address is Lot 1551, Kampung Singkir Laut, 08100 Yan, Kedah. Plug it into Waze or Google Maps and it'll take you there. From the North-South Expressway, take the Gurun exit and head towards Yan. The roads in this area are normal kampung roads — narrow in parts but totally fine for a regular car. No 4WD needed. Just go slow through the village roads and you'll get there.

If you're coming from Alor Setar, it's roughly 45 minutes. From Penang, give it about an hour to an hour and a half depending on traffic. The resort is right by the coast so once you start smelling the sea air, you're close. Use the Google Maps link (click here) for the most accurate pin.

What to Expect

This place is brand new — guests as recent as early 2026 confirmed it looks exactly like the promotional photos, which honestly is already a win. The tents face the sea directly, so you get that open coastal view from your doorstep. The grounds are well-maintained, landscaped nicely, and the overall layout gives each unit a decent amount of privacy.

There are different tent categories — at minimum a Family Tent with two queen beds, and a Glamping Suite that comes with two separate private bathrooms. Good for multi-gen families or anyone who doesn't want to share bathroom space with strangers. The beds have been described as firm with good back support — not the usual floppy glamping mattress situation. There's a TV with Netflix and YouTube too, if the sunset isn't entertaining enough for you.

There's also a pool on-site. Clean, spacious, does the job. And apparently there's a 300m trail that leads around the cape — one guest found out about it from the gardener during a morning walk. Sounds like the kind of low-key discovery that makes a stay memorable. A mud bath experience is reportedly coming soon too, so this place is still growing.

Best suited for: families, couples, anyone new to the whole outdoors thing who wants a comfortable entry point. Also great for people who've tried the real camping thing and decided they deserve a step up.

Accommodation

Fully furnished glamping tents — queen beds, firm mattresses, comfortable pillows. Top-notch tent quality based on multiple guests. The ensuite bathroom is a bit compact and doesn't have a lock, but ventilation inside the tent is handled well through rear netting.

Air-Conditioning

Yes, each tent has aircond. This is a big deal for coastal glamping in Kedah. You'll sleep well.

Bathroom

Private ensuite bathrooms per tent — huge selling point. The Glamping Suite option even has two separate private bathrooms. No sharing with strangers.

Pool

Clean and spacious. Great for a midday dip when the sun is punishing.

Dining

On-site restaurant with a view of the beach. Dinner gets high marks — quality is good and the price is fair for what you get (comparable to a decent KL restaurant, according to guests). Breakfast is included and described as okay — not a buffet spread but enough to get you going.

Entertainment

TV with Netflix and YouTube in the tent. No traditional local channels, but nobody seemed to miss them.

Parking

Available on-site. No issues reported.

What Campers Are Saying

One family who came with four adults and two small kids stayed in the Glamping Suite over the December school holidays. They specifically chose it for the private bathrooms — the mum admitted she's always wanted to try glamping but couldn't get past the shared toilet thing. She said the staff response time was fast whenever they needed anything, and the sea view genuinely exceeded expectations. Her exact words: "Tak sangka kat Yan ada tempat lawa macam ni." Same, honestly.

Another guest did a 2D1N stay in early January 2026 with his family and was relieved the place looked exactly like the photos. He pointed out something I think a lot of first-timers don't expect — when you're sleeping in a tent near the sea, you hear everything. The waves hitting the stone seawall at night. For him, that was the highlight. Said it was the perfect lullaby. His daughter loved the pillows. A solo guest who came for a quick healing break summed it up well: good sleep, great sunset, food that's worth the price, and sound of the sea all night. Basically everything you'd go to a resort for, but in a tent by the coast. She'd go back — and that says a lot.

Morning routines with kids or elders can drag, and sharing one bathroom between six people kills the vibe fast. Also, ask the staff about the 300m cape trail. It's not advertised prominently but it's a genuinely nice early morning walk with good views. Go before 7am when it's still cool and the light is soft. That's when Gunung Jerai looks its best from the shore.
