The Vibe

Mori Leka is the kind of campsite that surprises you — not because it's hidden or wild, but because it's genuinely well-managed. You arrive expecting a basic riverside site and instead you get an operation that clearly has its act together. Clean grounds, friendly staff, proper facilities. If you've been burned before by campsites that looked decent on Instagram but smelled like a wet dog in real life, this one's different.

This place leans heavily toward glamping — think air-conditioned tents, comfy airbeds, and curated lots with proper lighting at night. But they do cater to regular tent campers too, so you're not forced into the glamping package if you want to bring your own setup. The crowd here is mostly families and couples. You won't find hardcore jungle trekkers pitching up after a muddy summit — this is a chill, creature-comforts kind of place. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Located in Kampung Orang Asli, Serendah, the site sits beside a river with trees all around. The atmosphere is relaxed and the lots are spaced out enough that you don't feel like you're camping on top of strangers. At night there's a campfire session with marshmallows, which honestly never gets old.

Getting There

The address is Lot 16973, Jalan Ipoh, Kampung Orang Asli, 48200 Serendah, Selangor. Drop the Google Maps CID link into your phone and it should take you there without drama. Serendah is accessible via the North-South Expressway — exit at Serendah and follow towards the kampung. The road into the site is manageable with a normal car. No 4WD needed. Just watch your speed once you're off the main road — it's a kampung area.

What to Expect

Flat lots, riverside setting, trees for shade. The terrain is easy — no steep slopes, no slippery rocks to navigate. This makes it genuinely beginner-friendly and great for families with kids. The river is shallow enough for children to splash around safely, though one reviewer noted it's not the clearest river around — nearby development has taken its toll on water clarity. Manage expectations on that front.

Weekends get busy and lively. If you prefer a quieter stay, mid-week is your best bet. The campsite is guarded, which adds a layer of comfort especially if you're bringing the family or camping for the first time. The lots are assigned, so you'll know exactly where you're setting up before you arrive. Rooftop tent campers, take note — lot A01 is specifically called out as the most suitable spot for RTT setups. Only a handful of lots can accommodate RTTs properly, so plan ahead.

There's also an archery range across the river (RM30 for an hour, reportedly run by an experienced operator — worth doing), and ATV facilities are available nearby. So it's not just camping — there's stuff to do if you get restless.

Facilities

Toilets & Bathrooms

Clean. Hot water available with good water pressure. Muslim-friendly facilities too. This is one of the stronger points of this campsite — the cleanliness is maintained throughout the day by staff who are visibly keeping things in order.

Water

A Coway water dispenser is available on site. No need to haul drinking water from home.

Electricity

Powered campsite. The lots have power access and the common areas are well-lit at night. A bit too well-lit, honestly — a few reviewers mentioned the riverbank lighting is very bright, which kills the camping mood a little. If you're a light sleeper or came for stargazing, pack an eye mask.

Parking

Most lots are car-accessible — you can park right next to your tent. That's a big convenience, especially when you're hauling a full family's worth of gear.

Mini Mart

On-site mart selling basic snacks, drinks, and toiletries. Ice is also sold here. Forgot something? Probably can find a substitute here.

Fridge & Freezer

Available for campers to use. A thoughtful touch that most campsites don't bother with.

Glamping Tents

Air-conditioned tents with airbeds. Lightly scented air inside. The blankets provided are a bit on the small side — bring your own if you run cold.

Campfire

Yes, and marshmallows are provided. Kids will love it. Adults will also love it but pretend it's for the kids.

What Campers Are Saying

Henry, who stayed over a rainy night, couldn't stop talking about the staff. The site CO helped his group carry gear to their lot — and then turned around and helped another couple pitch their tent in the rain, fully drenched but still smiling. That kind of dedication is rare. He's already planning a return trip.

Christina gave it 4 stars — she appreciated the cleanliness and flexibility on checkout time (as long as you pack up before a certain hour, they're chill about it). Her main gripes were the overly bright lighting at night and the smallish blankets in the glamping tents. Also echoed what others said about the river not being the clearest — she suspects nearby development is affecting water quality.

Grégoire visited on a weekend and said it was lively but still relaxing. The sound of the river flowing did the job for him. He highlighted that the amenities go beyond the bare minimum — things like the Coway dispenser, fridge, and freezer are the kind of extras that show the operator actually thought things through.

Tiensoon brought a rooftop tent setup and wrote a genuinely useful breakdown of which lots work for RTTs — A01 is your best bet if you're solo, A01 to A03 if you're a group. He also flagged the bright lighting as a real issue for campers (as opposed to glampers), and suggested the operator consider dimming or switching off the riverbank lights earlier in the night for the camping zone.

TAHAN Tip

If you're coming with a rooftop tent or camper van, reach out to the operator at 016-783 8082 before you book and confirm your lot assignment. Don't just show up and hope for the best — the RTT-compatible lots are limited and specific. Book early, state your setup, and get it confirmed. Saves a lot of drama on arrival day.
