That said, for what it is — a hilltop hangout spot with a cafe and a view of Kangar town — it works. The vibe is relaxed. People come here in the evenings to chill, have coffee, enjoy the breeze. The kind of place you bring your family for a casual outing, not a serious outdoor adventure. Perlis is a small state and spots like this are genuinely few and far between, so it fills a real gap.

The address is Jalan Gunung Medan, Taman Medan Sepakat, 01000 Kangar, Perlis. Drop that into Google Maps and it'll get you there without much drama. You're in Kangar town, so navigation is straightforward. The road heading up is narrow though — one reviewer specifically warned that if you're driving a big car, don't bother trying to drive all the way up to the peak. U-turns are a nightmare. Better to park lower and either walk the roughly 500m up the vehicle road, or take the golf cart shuttle (there's a fee, ask management for the current rate when you call — 011-1080 7591).

The walk up is on a paved vehicle road, not jungle trail. Totally safe, as one reviewer put it. Just takes about 10-15 minutes on foot.

What to Expect

It's a hilltop with a glass cafe at the top. The view faces Kangar town — you can see the city lights at night which is genuinely the highlight of the visit. The surrounding area is quite green, but the viewpoint itself is partially blocked by trees and bushes, which a few visitors found disappointing. Don't come expecting a panoramic 360-degree view. What you get is a framed city view, and depending on your expectations, that's either fine or underwhelming.

The management has decorated the place with colourful LED lights on the trees — think iCity-lite vibes. Some people love that kind of thing. Others, especially those who came hoping for a dark sky experience, find it kills the ambience entirely. Go in knowing this.

This place suits families and couples looking for a low-effort evening out. Not for hardcore campers. Not for people who want nature immersion. Think of it more like a scenic cafe with a bit of outdoor flair. The glamping units are available too, but if you do book them, know that the area isn't fully private — walk-in visitors can still enter the premises, which frustrated at least one group who rented three units at once. The consensus from visitors is that this place is best experienced at night. Multiple people came specifically for the night view and the cool breeze, and most left reasonably happy on that front. One visitor called it a must-visit in Kangar — good coffee, nice nature vibes, can't argue with that for a casual evening out.

A family who came just to visit the viewpoint and cafe (skipping the glamping units) said the experience was chill and enjoyable — but they sat and waited over an hour for their food and drinks. That kind of wait when you're on a hilltop with nowhere else to go feels extra long. Real talk: the service needs work.

And if you're going up just for the cafe and view, aim for a weekday evening. Weekends get busier and the kitchen is already slow enough as it is. Sitting up there on a quiet Tuesday night with a good kopi and a breeze? That's actually a pretty nice way to spend an evening in Perlis.
