The Vibe

Amantara Glamping is not your typical campsite. No pitching tents in the mud, no mosquito nets you have to figure out yourself. This is fully set-up glamping — air-conditioned tents, a long swimming pool, a cafe on site, and views of open green scenery that genuinely make you want to just... stop. Breathe. Do nothing for a while. It's the kind of place you bring your family when everyone needs a reset but nobody wants to rough it.

The whole place has a very new, clean feel to it. It's located in Bandar Darulaman, Jitra — so this is solidly northern Kedah territory. Not a jungle camp. Not a river camp. More like a private retreat with a glamping concept. The crowd here is mostly families with young kids, couples looking for a chill getaway, and friend groups who want something low-effort but still feel like they went somewhere. If you're expecting campfire singalongs and sleeping under canvas in the wild — this isn't that place. But if you want to sip coffee outside your tent while watching the sun go down over a green landscape, Amantara delivers.

They also enforce a silence rule from 10pm to 8am, which honestly is a plus. Nothing ruins glamping like the next tent blasting music at midnight. The management seems hands-on and genuinely responsive — which makes a big difference when you're away from home with kids in tow.

Getting There

Head to Jalan Taman Suasana Indah, Bandar Darulaman, 06000 Jitra, Kedah. If you're coming from Alor Setar, it's about a 20-minute drive north. From Kangar, Perlis, it's roughly 30 minutes south. Bandar Darulaman is a well-known township so most locals know it — if you're lost, just ask for Bandar Darulaman and navigate from there. Drop the Google Maps pin (cid=2043439282590908052) before you leave so you don't have to guess. The road leading in should be fine for regular cars — no 4WD needed based on what reviewers mention.

One thing to be ready for: parking can be a bit of a headache (more on that below). Come with your luggage sorted and be prepared for a short walk from the car to your tent. There's no trolley or wagon currently, so pack light or make a few trips.

What to Expect

This is a beginner-friendly, family-first kind of place. The glamping tents face a sunset view — green surroundings, open skies at night, and a swimming pool that's about two feet deep so even toddlers can splash around safely. It's not a big sprawling resort, so the scale feels intimate. Which also means — don't expect total privacy. You're still in a tent, and the tents are near each other. Sound carries. What you gain is a well-curated, comfortable experience that feels genuinely relaxing without requiring any camping skills whatsoever.

Hardcore campers might find this too soft. But that's kind of the point. Amantara is for people who want to enjoy the outdoors without giving up sleep quality. The air-conditioning is reportedly solid, the beds are proper, and the stargazing at night — if the weather plays along — is apparently something else. One reviewer described it as feeling like time had completely stopped. That's high praise for a place in Jitra.

Do note: this is a newer establishment. Great foundations, but they're still ironing out a few things — parking management being the main one. Go in with reasonable expectations and you'll likely have a great time.

Facilities

Glamping Tents

Air-conditioned, comes with a proper bed, small table, umbrella, mini outdoor lamp, prayer mat, and enough power sockets. Small but fully equipped. Outdoor table and chairs set up outside each tent too.

Swimming Pool

Long pool, about two feet deep. Safe for young kids. Adults can use it too — just don't expect to do laps.

Toilets & Bathrooms

Not attached to the tents, but not far either. Three bathrooms — one with a water heater — and three toilets total. Reviewers say they were clean. No mirror in the tent, and the sink area could use a countertop for toiletries, but functional overall.

Water

Coway water dispenser on site. Convenient for refilling bottles.

BBQ

BBQ pit available in front of the sunset view tents.

Cafe

In-house cafe serving breakfast and dinner. Not included in the room rate — you pay separately. Good to know so you can budget accordingly.

Parking

Limited designated parking, and it's a fair distance from the tent area. Management has been inconsistent about roadside parking. This is a known issue — hopefully they sort it out. For now, plan your drop-off and don't expect a smooth arrival if you come with a lot of stuff.

What Campers Are Saying

Families keep coming up as the main demographic who love this place. One family noted the pool depth is perfect for kids — shallow enough to be safe, long enough to actually enjoy. Another reviewer who booked the full place for a family gathering said the food was superb and the overall vibe was great for a group stay. If you can book the whole site with your group, that's probably the move — you get the privacy and the run of the place.

Multiple people mentioned how responsive and approachable the owner is. When issues came up, they were handled quickly. That kind of attentiveness is rare and worth calling out. One reviewer said it felt like the host genuinely cared about guests having a good time — not just collecting payment and disappearing.

The sunset-facing tents got a specific shoutout. Staying in a tent that faces a green, open view with the sun going down — plus the option to cook outside at your own table with a BBQ pit nearby — that's a setup people enjoyed. Simple pleasures, done well.

The one consistent criticism is the parking situation. One reviewer had a frustrating experience at check-in when staff were short with them during a luggage drop-off — even though they weren't actually parking, just offloading bags. That kind of thing sours the mood fast, especially when you've driven up from KL or Penang. Management, if you're reading this — fix the parking system and brief your staff properly. A trolley or wagon for luggage would also go a long way.

Someone also flagged that as a new place, everything looks great now — but consistent maintenance is what will keep it that way. The foundations are solid; they just need to keep up with it as the place gets busier.

TAHAN Tip

If you're going with a group, try to book all the tents and have the place to yourselves. Based on what campers are saying, Amantara works best as a private retreat. Shared with strangers, the lack of soundproofing between tents becomes more noticeable. Book it out for a family gathering or friend group, and suddenly it's your own little resort for the weekend.
