The Vibe

Let's be clear upfront — this is not a campsite where you pitch a tent on the ground. Yellow Glamping Homestay is a private homestay with a glamping dome room and a private pool. You book the whole place, not a plot. If you're looking for a jungle trek or a riverside setup, this isn't it. But if you want to gather the family, splash in a clean pool, and wake up to paddy field views without checking into a hotel — this one's worth knowing about.

The place is in Kuala Kedah, which most people only know as the ferry terminal to Langkawi. But there's something genuinely nice about this part of Kedah — flat rice fields stretching out to the horizon, quiet kampung roads, that slower pace of life. Yellow Glamping leans into all of that. It's a homey setup that works well for family reunions, small group getaways, or even a celebration like Raya or Christmas with the extended family.

The standout feature is the dome room — it sits outside the main house and gives you that glamping feel without the faff of setting anything up yourself. The rest of the property has actual bedrooms with air conditioning, big bathrooms with water heaters, and a pool area that reviewers keep praising for being bersih dan besar. Sunset over the paddy fields from here? Memang cantik.

Getting There

The address is No B, 21, Jalan Kuala Kedah, Taman Bahtera, 06600 Kuala Kedah, Kedah. Plug it into Google Maps and it should take you there reliably — here's the Maps link if you need it.

From Alor Setar, it's about 20 to 25 minutes northwest. If you're coming up from the south on the North-South Expressway, exit at Alor Setar North and head towards Kuala Kedah. The roads around here are flat and well-paved — no 4WD needed, no gravel nonsense. Standard kereta biasa gets you there fine.

One important thing to note: shops and grocery stores are not nearby. One reviewer specifically flagged this. So buy your groceries on the way — stop at Tesco or Mydin in Alor Setar before heading to the homestay. Don't assume you can pop out for ingredients easily once you're there.

What to Expect

This place is set up for groups who want comfort with a side of the outdoors. You're not roughing it here at all. The property is spacious, clean, and the owner is reportedly very hands-on and helpful. Parking is easy — no squeezing into a forest carpark or worrying about getting stuck.

There are five rooms in total: three bedrooms, one open mezzanine room, and the dome room outside. The dome is the one that makes the place feel different from a regular homestay — it's what gives you that "we went glamping" story to tell. That said, one reviewer did flag that the dome had some leaking issues during heavy rain. Kalau musim hujan, something to be aware of. The gutter and rainwater pipe situation on the platform wasn't ideal either according to that review. Clear skies? No problem. Monsoon season? Go in with that expectation managed.

The surrounding paddy field view is the real bonus. Evening sunsets here are genuinely nice. It's the kind of place where you don't need to go anywhere — just set up by the pool, grill something, and enjoy the space. Ideal for families with kids, couples looking for a weekend escape, or any group that wants to celebrate something without a hotel room vibe.

Facilities

Pool

Private, clean, and well-maintained according to multiple reviewers. Besar enough for families and kids to enjoy. The BBQ outdoor area is right by the pool too — good setup for an evening grill session.

Bedrooms

Three proper bedrooms, all with air conditioning and ceiling fans. Solid for a family or group booking.

Bathrooms

Big bathrooms with water heaters. That's a nice touch — not all homestays bother with this.

Dome Room

The glamping dome sits outside the main house. It's the highlight of the property, but bring a backup plan if it's rainy season — there have been reports of leaking.

Mezzanine Room

An open mezzanine level — more of an open sleeping area than a private room. Good for kids or if your group doesn't mind the shared space feel.

Kitchen

There's a kitchen, but one reviewer mentioned the sink was clogged during their stay. Something to raise with the owner before you arrive. Also, bring your own cooking ingredients — shops are a drive away.

Parking

Easy and convenient, according to reviewers. No complaints here.

What Campers Are Saying

A family who celebrated Christmas here said the place was spacious, clean, and the owner made everything easy. They specifically called out the pool and the morning view — two things that kept coming up across reviews. They'd go back, and that says something.

Another family with kids loved the paddy field view during sunset and said the surroundings were great for children to roam around. Their main gripe was the distance from shops — they had to drive quite a bit to get groceries. Take note.

Someone who went with family for a pool day and staycation couldn't stop mentioning how clean and big the pool area was. Air conditioned rooms, water heaters, clean toilets — they were happy with basically everything.

The more critical review came from someone who clearly went in with a keen eye. Dome leaking, gutter not draining properly during rain, steep ladder to the dome and mezzanine, kitchen sink blocked. They also mentioned that some of the promotional photos might be from the adjacent White Glamping property (same owner, different zone). If you're booking specifically for the dome, ask the owner to confirm exactly what you're getting. Better to clarify upfront.

Overall reading: good place, friendly owner, nice setting. Just manage your expectations for the wet season and sort out groceries before you arrive.

TAHAN Tip

If you're planning a BBQ by the pool — and honestly, why wouldn't you — bring your own complete cooking setup. The kitchen is available but based on reviewer feedback, don't rely on it entirely. Pack your ingredients before leaving Alor Setar, and if you're cooking for a big group, the TAHAN Windmaster Double Burner Stove is a solid option for outdoor cooking right by the pool area — folds flat, cooks two dishes at once, and you're not fighting over the kitchen sink. Pair it with the TAHAN ProChef Cookset and you've got everything you need without depending on what's inside the house.

Also — if you're eyeing the dome room during dry season, do it. That's the best time. Avoid putting the dome-sleeping crowd in there during the November to January monsoon window unless you've confirmed with the owner that the leaking issue has been fixed.
