Tok Mat Village & Adventure Park — Kampung Vibes, Real Activities, Actual Hospitality

The Vibe
This one sits deep in Kampung Paya Rengas, about 4km off the main road in Ipoh. That distance actually works in its favour — by the time you get there, the city noise is gone and it genuinely feels like you've stepped into someone's kampung. Because you kind of have. The whole place is run by the man himself, Tok Mat, who apparently makes it a point to walk around and check on his guests personally. That kind of hospitality is getting rare.
It's a glamping setup, not a pitch-your-own-tent kind of place. Tents are prepared for you — clean, cozy, sorted. But it doesn't feel fake or resort-y. The fruit trees, the river, the kayaks, the campfire at night — it all adds up to something that feels genuinely kampung. If you've been bringing your family to the same hill resort year after year, this is a good shake-up.
It's popular with team building groups, family outings, and school leadership camps. But it doesn't feel overrun. The activities are legit enough to keep kids busy all day and adults entertained well into the night. Rozaini even tipped that if you visit during fruit season, Tok Mat's durians and rambutans are reason enough on their own.

Getting There
Address is LOT 6209 Kg Paya Rengas, Kg Kepayang, 31300 Ipoh, Perak. Plug it into Google Maps and it'll get you close — the CID number is 16730123800440555276 if you want to use that directly. The road goes deep into kampung territory, about 4km from the main road. Nothing brutal, but it's not a highway either. A normal car should manage fine. Just don't speed through the village roads — there are kids around.
If you need to call ahead for directions, Tok Mat's number is 013-900 8802. Worth a call before your first visit just to confirm the route and whether slots are available.

What to Expect
This is a structured glamping and activity park. Don't come here expecting a wild jungle campsite — that's not the point. The point is a clean, well-run kampung retreat with enough to do that you won't be sitting around staring at your phone (though the internet is surprisingly good here, apparently).
Activities include kayaking, paddle boats, fishing, archery, swimming (there are both kids and adult pools), cycling (free, apparently), and caving. At night, campfire sessions happen. Breakfast is included and reviewers keep mentioning it's actually good. This is very much a family or group spot. Solo hardcore campers looking for a challenge — probably not the right fit. But bring your kids, your department team, or your extended family and you'll have a full day, easy.
The surroundings are kampung-green. Fruit trees, open air, real feel of being away from the city. When it rains, one reviewer said you'll survive — the setup handles it. So don't cancel on a cloudy forecast.

Facilities
Tents / Accommodation
Pre-set glamping tents. Clean, tidy, and comfortable enough that multiple reviewers brought it up unprompted. Not roughing it, but not overdone either.
Toilets
Clean and tidy, based on what campers are saying. More than one person mentioned it specifically, so it's not just one good day.
Swimming Pool
Two pools — one for kids, one for adults. Big plus for families.
Surau
Clean and tidy. Mentioned by multiple reviewers. Comfortable for Muslim guests.
Food
Welcome drinks on arrival, and breakfast is prepared for guests. Reviewers rated it well — not just tolerable, actually good.
Activities
Kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, archery, cycling (free), caving, campfire. Plenty to fill a full day without having to organise anything yourself.
Parking
Not specifically mentioned but it's a village property with space. Shouldn't be a problem for normal group sizes.

What Campers Are Saying
Naim brought his family and the kids went full throttle — fishing, kayaking, cycling, archery, swimming. He also mentioned that Tok Mat himself walks around asking how everyone is doing. That personal touch clearly stuck with people. Oh, and when one family member left an important key behind, the staff called them. That's the kind of thing you remember.
A group from UPM came for a leadership camp and said everything was tip top — the scenery, the water activities, even the caving. They'd recommend it for any leadership programme. Makes sense — the activities here are structured enough to work as a group programme without needing to bring your own facilitators.
Shafinaz came with a team building group and got welcomed by Tok Mat personally. She loved the food and the activities, and said she's coming back — mainly because she didn't get to berkayak the first time around. That's a return visit for the right reason.
Megat Ikhwan kept it simple: tidy tents, nice area, real camping feel. Kayak, paddle boat, campfire, swimming pool, free bicycles, clean surau, good breakfast. He covered everything. One thing he added that's worth noting — this place is 4km from the main road, and that distance gives it the actual feel of being away. It's not staged nature. You're properly in the kampung.
Rozaini had a different angle — come during fruit season. Durians and rambutans from the surrounding area. If that's not a reason to time your visit, I don't know what is.

TAHAN Tip
Time your visit for fruit season — usually around June to August for durian. Rozaini wasn't joking about the durians and rambutans. Combine a glamping trip with fresh kampung durian and you've got yourself a weekend that's hard to beat. Call Tok Mat on 013-900 8802 to ask what's in season before you book.
