The Vibe

Look, Gopeng Glamping Park isn't trying to be a rugged jungle campsite. And that's fine. This place is for people who want the outdoors feeling without sleeping on roots or waking up to ants in their bag. Think canvas tents with aircon, a buffet breakfast, and a fire show at 9.30pm. That's the deal here.

The kampung atmosphere is real though. A few people mentioned that village vibe — the kind that slows you down and makes you forget you have emails to reply to. It's peaceful. Not "no signal" peaceful, but "actually want to sit outside and do nothing" peaceful. Families love it here. Corporate team building groups come here. Couples on a budget staycation, too. If you're expecting crashing waterfalls and giant boulders — one reviewer said it straight — this isn't that place.

What it is, is a well-organised glamping park with enough activities to keep the kids busy and enough quiet corners for the adults to breathe.

Getting There

Gopeng is about 20–25 minutes south of Ipoh, off the main North-South Expressway. Take the Gopeng exit and head towards Jalan Besar, Kampung Chulek. The address is LOT 10846, Jln Besar, 31600 Gopeng, Perak. Plug it into Waze or Google Maps — the pin is pretty accurate.

Road in is fine. Normal car, no problem. Nothing rough here. Parking is available on site. If you're coming from KL, budget about 2 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic at Tapah.

What to Expect

This is glamping — so adjust expectations accordingly. You're not pitching a tent. The Quad Tent fits 4 pax comfortably and comes fully set up. There's a pool, a river at the back you can swim in, and a bunch of paid activities like ATV, archery, white water rafting, abseiling, and cycling. Gua Tempurung is nearby too if you want a day trip out.

Crowd-wise, weekends and school holidays will be busier. During Ramadan they run special staycation packages with iftar and sahur buffet included — that one is actually quite the deal at around RM100 per person. Fire show happens nightly at 9.30pm and everyone seems to enjoy it. It's one of those unexpected highlights that turns a decent stay into a memorable one.

Best for: Families, first-time campers, team building groups, couples who want a low-effort outdoor trip. Not for hardcore campers. Not for people who need a waterfall.

Facilities

Tents

Quad Tents sleep 4. Comes with aircon (runs 24/7), stand fans, mirror, towels, and a stargazer lamp. Nice from the outside. A few guests flagged mould on the inside and bedsheets with a funky smell — so maintenance is a bit hit or miss. Worth flagging at check-in if you notice anything off.

Toilets & Showers

Separated by gender, well-lit, and clean by most accounts. Each cubicle comes with water heater, toilet paper, body wash, hand wash, and — yes — a hair dryer. Even got an ironing station in there (no ironing in tents). Pretty solid for a glamping park.

Water

Water dispensers spread around the site so you don't have to walk far. There was a water disruption incident mentioned by one guest — it got resolved but the communication could've been better. Hopefully a one-off.

Food

Breakfast buffet is included in most packages and gets good reviews — decent variety, well-presented, tastes good. There's also a burger stall and pizza shop nearby, plus local food vendors just outside the park if you want to explore.

Activities

Plenty of add-ons at reasonable prices — ATV, archery, badminton, white water rafting, abseiling, Gua Tempurung tour, bicycle rental. Pool and river swimming are available too. Kids get a play area and trampoline.

Common Areas

Benches outside the tents for chilling. Separate surau for men and women. Good outdoor lighting at night so the walk to the toilet isn't sketchy. Indoor games like Monopoly, Uno, Jenga, and Congkak available at the counter — free to borrow.

What Campers Are Saying

A family who stayed for 3D2N over New Year said the fire show and fireworks were the highlight — they came in just expecting a quiet stay and left pleasantly surprised. The Quad Tent worked well for 4 people. Their main gripe was the mould inside the tent and the bedsheet smell. Worth flagging upfront so staff can sort it out before you unpack.

A group that came for company team building said it was proper fun — lots of activities, safety SOPs were solid, staff were attentive, and they didn't need to leave the resort even once. Everything was in-house and well-organised.

A solo reviewer on a Ramadan staycation package said the RM100/person deal with buffet iftar, sahur, and one night stay was great value. Good atmosphere, good food. Simple as that.

The common thread across almost every review: the toilets are surprisingly good (people are genuinely impressed), the staff are helpful, and the fire show always gets a mention. The village feel also comes up a lot — one guest said it brought her back to childhood kampung memories. That one hit different.

TAHAN Tip

If you're planning to join the fire show — and you should — stake out your spot near the main open area before 9pm. It fills up, especially on weekends. Also, check your tent condition right at check-in while staff are still around. Don't wait until you're about to sleep to realise the sheets aren't fresh. Speak up early and they'll usually sort it out.
