Resort Tasik Raban, Lenggong — Quiet Lakeside Escape in the Heart of Perak
The Vibe
Tasik Raban is one of those places that feels genuinely underrated. It's not a famous destination. Most people driving through Lenggong are headed somewhere else. But if you stop here — really stop, check in, sit by the lake — you'll get it. The water is calm, the surroundings are green, and it's the kind of quiet that actually resets your brain.
This is primarily a chalet and resort stay, not a tent-pitching campsite. That said, there is a campsite on the grounds — at least one reviewer came specifically for the Outdoor Festival 2025 and slept there. So tent camping is possible, but the main experience here is the chalets. If you're coming purely to pitch a tent on a random weekend, call ahead first: 019-576 3414. Don't drive all the way from KL to find out.
The crowd here is mostly families and couples looking for a slow weekend. No party scene. No Instagram influencer circus. People come for the lake view, the boat cruise, the petting zoo, and just... nothing much else. That's the whole point.

Getting There
Lenggong is in northern Perak, roughly 100km north of Ipoh. From Ipoh, take the route through Kuala Kangsar heading towards Gerik, then branch off towards Lenggong town. The resort is in Kampung Raban, just outside of Lenggong — follow the signs or drop the Google Maps pin (link here) and it'll take you right there.
Road in is fine — no 4WD needed. Standard car handles it no problem. The town of Lenggong itself is small, so once you're in the area you won't be lost for long. Stock up on food before you arrive though. There's no in-house dining at the resort. Restaurants are nearby and towards Lenggong town, but don't expect a mamak open past 10pm.

What to Expect
Tasik Raban is a proper lake — not a man-made retention pond, not a paddy field ditch. The view from the chalets, especially the family suite facing the water, is legit beautiful. Morning mist on the lake. Golden hour reflections. The kind of view you wake up for.
Beyond the view, there's a boat cruise package (about an hour) that reviewers consistently say is worth taking — don't skip it. There's also a petting zoo on site at RM5 per person, which is cheap enough that you might as well. Kids will love it, honestly.
This place suits families, couples, and anyone who just wants to decompress. It's not a hardcore outdoor adventure — no jungle trails, no waterfalls to chase here. If you want peace, lake views, and affordable accommodation, this is your spot. Beginners and non-campers will feel comfortable here too.

Facilities
Chalets
Rooms have been recently refurbished. Decent and clean. Family suite right in front of the lake — that's the one to book. Starting from RM150 per night, which is reasonable for what you get.
Campsite
There is a campsite area — used during events like the Outdoor Festival 2025. For regular weekend camping, call ahead to confirm availability and whether it's open.
Toilets
Clean and well-maintained, according to campers who stayed. No complaints here — which is already saying something.
Dining
No in-house restaurant. Pack your own food or head to the nearby restaurants and Lenggong town. Plan your meals before you check in.
Activities
Boat cruise (one hour, highly recommended). Petting zoo at RM5 per person. Both on site — no need to go anywhere.

What Campers Are Saying
A family who stayed in September 2025 booked the family suite facing the lake and basically didn't want to leave. They said it was quiet, serene, and great value. The room refurb made a difference — it's clean without being fancy, which is the sweet spot for this kind of trip.
One reviewer made a point about timing your shots — after the rain, early morning, and sundown are the three best windows for photos at Tasik Raban. If you're into photography even casually, you'll have a field day here.
Felicity Grace came with a group, took the boat cruise package, and called it a must-do. Her words: "really awesome timing." An hour on the lake, surrounded by that view — yeah, I can see why.
Fad came for the Outdoor Festival 2025 and camped on site. Said waking up next to Tasik Raban was something else entirely. "The view is magnifique" — can't argue with that. Also gave the toilet facilities a thumbs up, which campers always appreciate.
Muhammad Sani brought it up a notch by discovering the petting zoo. RM5 a person. He was clearly very happy about this. The lake view, the zoo, the price — he seems to have had an excellent time overall.

TAHAN Tip
Book the family suite that faces the lake directly — don't just take whatever's available. That front-row lake view is the whole reason you're here. Wake up before 7am and sit outside. The morning mist on Tasik Raban is something else. You'll understand once you see it.
