The Vibe

RKCG sits in Kampung Sungai Semungkis, Hulu Langat — about 45 minutes from KL if you're coming from Keramat or thereabouts. That's the thing about this place. It doesn't feel like it should be this close to the city. You pull in, you hear the creek, and suddenly the week doesn't exist anymore.

This is very much a family and group campsite. Think birthday gatherings, family reunions, company team-building. The setup is proper — private lots, private bathrooms for some units, a swimming pool, BBQ grills, gazebos with fans. It's not roughing it. But that's exactly the point. If you want jungle vibes without sleeping on roots and eating instant noodles in the dark, RKCG is your spot.

The owner is also actively expanding across the river, so the place is growing. The fact that they're responsive when issues come up — that alone puts them ahead of most campsites in Selangor.

Getting There

Head to Hulu Langat and look for Batu 14, Kampung Sungai Semungkis. From KL, the drive is around 45 minutes — smooth all the way until you hit the entrance. The last stretch is a narrow downhill gravel road. Slow down, take it easy, it's manageable with a regular car — just don't fly in like you're in a hurry. No 4WD needed, but don't rush that entrance section.

Use the Google Maps link or search "Rumah Kebun Camping Ground" — it should pull up accurately. If you're unsure, call them at 019-222 4956 before you head out. Better to confirm than to get lost in Hulu Langat at night.

What to Expect

The lots are bigger than most people expect. If you're running a large tent with full awnings extended, you'll have room. Each lot comes with its own water tap and electrical point. Some lots are on higher ground, so there's a bit of walking involved if you need to go back and forth to the toilet — worth keeping in mind if you've got older folks or kids who need frequent bathroom trips.

The river in front is shallow enough for kids. Not a raging current, not a deep drop — just a nice, calm creek you can sit beside or let the little ones splash around in. There's also a pool on site that looks more like a natural pond, fish included. It's deep though, so keep an eye on the kids there.

Weekdays are quiet and peaceful. Weekends will obviously be busier given how close it is to KL. This place works for beginners, families, and groups. Hardcore campers looking for total wilderness — probably not your scene. But anyone who wants nature without the suffering? Come here.

Facilities

Toilets

Separate for men and women. Clean — genuinely clean, not just "acceptable for a campsite" clean. If you book a lot with a private bathroom, it's spotless. Even the shared public toilets get good marks from reviewers.

Showers

Water heaters available. Some are reportedly broken, so confirm with the owner which lots have working heaters when you book. Cold shower after a sweaty day is fine too, honestly.

Electricity

Plug points at each lot. Charge your phone, run a small fan, no problem.

Water

Water tap at every lot. Easy access, no hauling water from a central point.

Swimming Pool

More of a natural pond feel — fish swimming around and everything. It's a highlight for most visitors. But it's deep, so supervise the kids.

BBQ

Grills are provided for BBQ sessions. Bring your own charcoal and food.

Gazebo

Available on certain lots. Some come with fans. Good for hanging out without being exposed to the elements.

Parking

Close to the camping lots — short walk from your car to your site. No lugging gear for ages.

What Campers Are Saying

One camper called this the only place he'd confidently give a 5 out of 5 — and he broke it down properly. Clean toilets, safe river, unique pool, plug points, private gazebo, close parking. Not one area where the place dropped the ball. He went on a weekday, which he said made everything even better — quiet, peaceful, practically had the place to himself.

A family who used RKCG for their inaugural family gathering said it was perfect for a group get-together. What stood out for them was the owner — responsive, helpful, sorted out small issues without making it a hassle. That kind of management doesn't happen by accident.

Another reviewer was pleasantly surprised by the lot size. Big enough for a full tent with awnings out on all sides. He noted some lots sit higher than others, so the walk to the toilet can get tiring — something to factor in when picking your spot during booking.

Someone else highlighted that the campsite is actively expanding across the river, with more lots coming. They were already happy with what's there — the pool, the riverside, the overall setup — and said they'd definitely come back once the expansion is done. Growth is a good sign for a campsite like this.

TAHAN Tip

When booking, specifically request a lower-level lot close to the creek. You'll thank yourself every time you need to make a toilet run at 2am. And if you're bringing kids, ask the owner which lots sit right next to the shallow part of the river — not all lots face the same stretch of water.
