The Vibe

Physis Beach Campsite is the kind of place JB people drive to when they just need to get out of the city without committing to a full island trip. It's a natural beach campsite tucked in Ladang Pasir Logok, Mersing — not fancy, not commercialised, just a proper outdoor spot with the sea in front of you and enough trees around to give you shade.

Two main areas to set up — open ground facing the sea, or a shadier patch under the trees. Families with kids seem to love it here. Big groups too. One family ended up extending their trip from 2 nights to 3 because nobody wanted to leave. That says something. The vibe is relaxed. No crowds, no party scene. Just camping the way it should be.

Being a natural site, you'll encounter bugs and flies — part of the beach experience. Sea breezes can pick up depending on the season, especially between November and March. Many campers return anyway, which says something about how worth it this place is.

Getting There

The address is Ladang Pasir Logok, Mukim, 81900 Mersing, Johor. Plug it into Google Maps using this link: Physis Beach Campsite on Google Maps. The site is in the Mersing area, roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from JB depending on traffic.

The road into the Mersing area is fine — standard highway driving via Kota Tinggi or Ayer Hitam. No 4WD needed from what reviewers mention. Just follow the GPS closely once you're off the main road — the kampung roads can get a bit twisty. If you're unsure, call ahead: 019-755 3322. The caretaker uncle is very helpful.

What to Expect

This is a natural campsite, so calibrate your expectations accordingly. You're camping on real ground, near a real beach, with real nature around you — including insects. If you need WiFi and air-con, this is not your place. If you want salt air, open sky and your kids running around freely, this is exactly your place.

There are two zones — open air (more wind, more sun, better sea views) and shaded ground (cooler, more sheltered). For families, the shaded zone might be more comfortable during the day. For those who want to catch sunrise or stargaze, set up near the open area.

No electricity on site. So if you're camping overnight — and this place absolutely supports overnight camping — you need to come prepared for a dark site after sunset.
