Murni Camp Gopeng — River Camp with Chalets, Dorms and Breakfast at Your Door

The Vibe

Murni Camp is one of those places that works for different kinds of people — you can pitch a tent, bunk in a dorm, or sleep in an air-conditioned chalet. It's in Kampung Jahang, just outside Gopeng town, and the whole setup feels like a proper kampung stay rather than a hardcore camping trip. Friendly host, clean surroundings, river access — it has that homey, relaxed energy.

The river is the main draw. Shallow enough for kids, clear enough to actually want to get in. The host, Tn Hj Abdul Wahid, has a good reputation for taking care of guests, and the breakfast delivery thing — where they leave food at your door in the morning — is a nice touch that people genuinely appreciate.

One honest heads-up though: this place sits close to the highway. Some guests couldn't care less. Others found the traffic noise — especially motorcycles and trucks — annoying enough to break the whole outdoor vibe. If you're chasing silence and jungle feels, this might not hit the spot. But if you want a clean, managed, family-friendly riverside spot with decent facilities, Murni Camp delivers.

Getting There

Head to Gopeng town in Perak — it's right off the North-South Expressway, so access is straightforward. From the Gopeng R&R exit, drive into Kampung Jahang and look out for the camp signage. The address is Kampung Jahang, 31600 Gopeng. Drop the coordinates into Google Maps and it'll take you right there. Road in is normal tarmac, no 4WD needed. Easy drive even in a regular sedan.

If you're coming from KL, it's roughly a 2.5-hour drive up the highway. From Ipoh, maybe 30 minutes south. Nearby there's a 99 Speedmart for last-minute supplies, and a few warung in the kampung if you want local food. Logistics are easy — which is part of why families like it here.

What to Expect

Flat, grassy campsite with a river running alongside it. The ground is well-maintained, the whole place is clean, and the host clearly takes pride in keeping it tidy. This isn't a wild camping experience — it's managed and organised, which for families with young kids is actually a plus.

The river is calm and shallow — reviewers mention water reaching knee-depth on adults, so small kids can splash around without stress. Bring water shoes though, the rocks are slippery and the sand is coarse. Not a major thing, but barefoot wading will hurt after a while.

Crowd level isn't something reviewers talked much about, but given the location and facilities, expect it to be busy on weekends and school holidays. Suited for beginners, families, and anyone who wants comfort with a side of outdoor setting. Not the place for a rugged, off-grid adventure.
