The Vibe

Laman Rindu is a managed riverside campsite sitting along Sungai Bil in Slim River, Perak. The kind of place where you pitch your tent a few metres from the river and spend the whole day doing absolutely nothing productive — and that's the whole point. The water is clear, the river is wide, and when you get a riverside spot, it feels almost private. Families, friend groups, couples — all kinds of people come here. It's not a hardcore jungle camp. More of a proper lay-back-and-relax setup.

The surroundings are dense with trees, which gives you shade throughout the day. Good news and bad news at the same time — the canopy limits airflow, so afternoons can get stuffy and hot. Come prepared for that. Monkeys roam the area too, so don't leave food out when you step away from camp. Those things are sneaky.

Getting There

The address is Lot 3337, Jalan Slim Lama, Kampung Sungai Bil, 35800 Slim River, Perak. Plug it into Google Maps and it'll take you there. The nearest landmark most people use is Behrang town — stock up on groceries there before heading in, because once you're at the campsite, the nearest town is Slim River, about 20 minutes away.

The good news — it's all tarred road in. No 4WD needed, no dodgy gravel tracks. A regular car handles it fine. That said, don't drive out at night if you can avoid it. No street lights along the plantation roads leading to the site, so it gets proper dark. If you need a last-minute grocery run, the management apparently can arrange a runner until 6pm — useful to know.

What to Expect

There are different campsite zones here. The older ones sit closer to the entrance near the lower ground, while the newer ones are up the hill with better river views and play areas for kids. If you want to be right next to the water, request a riverside tapak when you book — those spots give you near-private access to the river. The campsite plots are big; each one can comfortably fit about 6 dome tents.

The river is the main draw. Water is clear, current is mostly manageable — around 1m depth in the calmer sections, which is shallow enough for adults and older kids to safely play in. Some parts have faster current, so watch where you're swimming. The rocks and stones on the riverbed can be slippery, so wear grip sandals if you have them. Also bring insect repellent — reviewers reported various insect bites, and one even noted it's great for insect studies (depends on your idea of fun, I guess).

This place suits families and friend groups well. Beginners are fine here — no hike-in required, facilities are decent, and the campsite is managed. Hardcore campers who want zero people around might find it a bit too organised, but honestly, the vibe is genuinely nice. Toilets

Two toilet blocks — one near the entrance, one up the hill near the newer campsite zones. The hillside one is newer and better positioned if you're staying up there. Cleanliness is generally acceptable, but at peak times it can get clogged (happened to both the male and female toilets on one visit). Also, someone shoved a cigarette butt in the toilet bowl, so yeah. Jaga sikit lah. Bring your own toilet paper to be safe.

Water

Piped water available on site — wash basins and a tap to rinse off dirt after river play. Not just river water, which is a plus.

Electricity

There is one power outlet station on site. One. If your campsite is far from it, you'll need a 50-100 metre extension cord to actually reach it. Bring a long one or don't rely on it. Parking

Parking is available at the campsite. No mention of it being a problem, but weekends fill up so aim to arrive early.

Those are the ones that make this campsite worth the drive. The hillside spots have better views and newer facilities, but if you came for the river, get as close to it as you can. Also, arrive before dark. The plantation roads leading in have zero lighting and it's genuinely disorienting if you're unfamiliar with the area.
