Rivernest Campsite: The Crystal-Clear River Spot in Chenderiang Families Keep Coming Back To

The Vibe

Rivernest is a new riverside campsite tucked into Kampung Sungai Lah, Chenderiang, just outside Tapah. The headline here is the river. Super clear water, the kind you can see the stones at the bottom. Reviewers keep saying the same thing: clean, clear, child-friendly. Memang that's the draw.

It's a basic campsite in the good way. You pitch your tent, the kids run straight to the water, and you sit down with your kopi and just lepak. Families make up a big chunk of the crowd here. People come for a short 2D1N or 3D2N escape from the city and leave happy.

When night comes, it gets properly dark. Only a few lights around the site, so you actually see the stars and hear the river. Calm, quiet, kampung feeling. If you want a break from the noise, this is it.

Getting There

The campsite is at A19 Kampung Sg Lah, Chenderiang, 35300 Tapah, Perak. From KL or from the north, take the PLUS highway and head for the Tapah area, then make your way towards Chenderiang. This is the same general side of Perak as Lata Kinjang, so if you've been there, you roughly know the area.

Easiest is to just follow the Google Maps pin. If you get lost in the kampung roads, call the owner at 011-5327 6624.

The entrance road works for all normal vehicles: sedans, MPVs, SUVs all fine. The only exception is lowered cars. If your ride sits low, leave it at home and bring something with more clearance.

What to Expect

Large site, river right there. Lots are labelled and numbered (one reviewer booked green label site no. 12 and loved it), so you can ask the owner which lot suits your group when you book.

This place is very beginner and family friendly. No hiking in, no 4WD drama, river is gentle and clear. Kids love it. Rivernest is still new and the owners are still building up some facilities, so every visit you'll probably see something added.

Telco line works in the area, so you can still WhatsApp the family group and check on things. Need supplies? It's not far from town either, but stock up on ice and snacks in Tapah on the way in. Senang.

Nights are dark and quiet, so sort out your lighting before you go. I always hang a TAHAN Luminate Multifunction Lantern at the tent. 4 light modes, and it doubles as a powerbank so you can top up your phone during the day too.

Safety note, same as any river: keep an eye on the little ones in the water, and if there's been heavy rain upstream, the river can rise and get faster. Check the water before letting the kids in and stay out if it turns murky or fast.

What Campers Are Saying

One camper summed it up in three words: super clear water. And honestly, that's what everyone comes back to. The river is the main event.

One parent said it's a new place with the best site by the river, and their child loves it. They took green label lot 12 and were happy they could still get phone signal.

Another family called it a great, basic campsite with a clean river that's safe and fun for kids. Simple setup, no fuss, just good river time.

A camper who did the full rundown said: clean river, clean toilets, plug points at night, a big site, and a dark, peaceful atmosphere. The verdict? Perfect for family camping.

And one group who did 3D2N in September said it was truly the best: calm, clean, perfect for a short getaway. 🏕️

TAHAN Tip

Call ahead and ask for a lot close to the river, then aim to arrive and finish pitching before sundown. The site gets really dark at night with only a few lights, so setting up tent pegs and guy lines in daylight saves you a lot of stumbling around. Charge your gadgets between 7pm and 8am when the plug points are on. And since the kids will be in the river all day, they'll crash hard at night, so give them a proper bed with a TAHAN Panthera Inflatable Sleeping Pad. 10cm thick, built-in pump and pillow, and nobody wakes up complaining about sakit belakang.
