The Vibe

Lojing is one of those places that feels like it belongs to a different Malaysia. You're up in the highlands between Gua Musang and Cameron Highlands — the air is noticeably cooler, the hills are thick with jungle, and everything just slows down. This campsite is set up to serve both campervan travelers and tent campers, so it's got a bit of a mixed crowd. Families, weekend warriors, campervan folks just passing through on the Cameron–Kelantan route — all kinds end up here.

The place isn't massive or fancy. It's a basecamp setup — honest, affordable, and functional. There's a mini pool for kids, hammocks strung up for afternoon loafing, a fishing pond if you want to cast a line, and even quad bikes for rent if you feel like exploring. Oh, and there's apparently an "avatar trail" into the jungle nearby. That alone had me curious. The vibe is relaxed highland escape, not resort glamping.

Worth noting — this place was still under development when some of these reviews came in. So expect things to be a work-in-progress. The bones are good. The owner seems to be actively building it up.

Getting There

The campsite sits along Jalan Gua Musang – Cameron Highlands in Lojing, Kelantan — that winding highland road that connects Gua Musang to the Cameron Highlands plateau. If you're coming from KL, you'd typically go through Simpang Pulai or through Gua Musang depending on which way you prefer. From Kuala Lumpur, it's roughly a 4–5 hour drive, maybe more depending on traffic and which route you take.

The Lojing corridor itself is a mountain road — expect curves, some steep climbs, and jungle on both sides. Not a 4WD-required road, but you'll want to be comfortable driving highland routes. Drive carefully at night — this stretch of road is known for fog and the occasional wildlife crossing. Plug the Google Maps CID into your phone before you go because signage in this area can be sparse.

Nearest shops and restaurants are about 2km away. Fill up on fuel and groceries before arriving — don't assume you can make a quick run.

What to Expect

This is a family-friendly highland basecamp. Not a rugged jungle trek camp, not a luxury glamping resort. Somewhere in between. The setting is genuinely nice — highlands elevation means cool temperatures, especially in the evenings and early mornings. If you're from KL or the Klang Valley, you'll feel the difference the moment you step out of the car.

Activities-wise there's enough to keep a family busy for a weekend without needing to go anywhere. Fishing pond, ATV quad bikes, the jungle trail, a small pool for the kids. If you just want to hang in a hammock and do absolutely nothing, you can do that too. Serius best for decompressing.

Crowd-wise, it doesn't seem to be heavily packed yet — still a fairly under-the-radar spot. Good for now. That might change as the place gets more developed. Go before everyone finds out about it.

Since there's no restaurant on-site and the nearest food is 2km out, bring enough supplies. This is a proper cook-your-own-meals kind of camp.
