Labong Campsite feels like camping at your uncle's farm — except your uncle is really, really generous and keeps the toilets spotless. Tucked in Kampung Labong in Endau, Johor, this place has a proper kampung soul. There are geese and chickens walking around, fruit trees everywhere, and an uncle on-site who will literally share his fresh coconuts, passion fruits, pink pomelos, and kedondong with you. That kind of hospitality is rare.

The crowd here is almost entirely families and couples. Not the hardcore bushcraft type — more the "I want nature but I also want my kid to be happy" type. And honestly? That pool is the main event. It's an artificial pool but it's big, clean, and in the Johor heat, you will not hear a single complaint from anyone.

The campsite also has standalone chalets if you want a backup option — or if your flysheet decides to betray you mid-rain. Good to know that option exists.

Getting There

The address is Lot 317, Kampung Labong, 86900 Endau, Johor. Drop it into Waze or Google Maps and it should bring you right there. Endau is about an hour from Mersing and roughly 2.5 hours from JB town. If you're coming down from KL, budget about 3.5 to 4 hours depending on traffic.

The road into Kampung Labong is a typical kampung road — manageable with a normal car, no 4WD needed. Just take it slow near the end. Call ahead on 012-727 1545 if you're not sure you're going the right way — the people here are helpful.

What to Expect

The campsite grounds are well-kept. Paved pathways, proper layout, different zones for different tent sizes. The uncle in charge will give you rubber mats to put under your tent — smart move since the ground has rocks underneath, and after rain you'd be pitching on wet stone otherwise.

There's a grass section for open-air lounging, a kids' playground, a separate wash-up area for dishes, and fruit trees dotted around the property. The whole place is clean and organised in a way that feels intentional, not accidental.

This is genuinely a beginner-friendly and family-friendly site. Don't come expecting jungle adventure or a river crossing. Come expecting a relaxed, well-managed kampung camp where you can let your kids loose by the pool and not stress about it.

The site isn't huge but it also doesn't pack in campers like sardines. Tapak sizes are 5m x 5m — if you have a bigger flysheet, just book an extra spot. Better to know this before you show up with a 6m shelter and no room to peg it out.

One dad-and-daughter duo ended up at Labong by accident — their first campsite of the trip wasn't great, so they went searching online and found this place. They showed up the week after CNY and basically had the whole campsite to themselves. The uncle brought out rubber mats without being asked, the daughter was in the pool within an hour of arriving, and they left happy — even after their tent leaked mid-rain and they had to upgrade to a chalet. They said they'd go back. That says a lot.

A family who booked for the Deepavali long weekend ended up needing an extra tapak because their flysheet was 5.5m wide.
