Getting There

Address is 160, Jalan Teluk Tempoyak, Batu Maung, 11960 Pulau Pinang. Plug it into Google Maps and it'll bring you there — the area is reasonably accessible and the road is normal tarmac, no 4WD needed. Batu Maung is near the Penang Bridge toll (second bridge side), so if you're coming from the mainland, it's not far after crossing over.

One thing to sort before you arrive: groceries and supplies. The nearest convenience store isn't walking distance. Reviewers flagged this clearly — stock up on food, drinks, charcoal, everything you need before you head in. Once you're there, you won't want to be driving in and out. There's a masjid (Masjid Umar) nearby but still need a car to get there. Plan your supplies properly and you'll be fine.

It's an expansion of the nearby Penang Mini Campsite, so there's more space here. The campsite has an older wing and a newer area. The old wing has more shade and is closer to power points, but reviewers say the far end gives more privacy — though it's warmer and less breezy. Pick based on what matters more to you.

Crowd-wise, it's a weekend spot. Likely gets busier on Saturdays. The overall atmosphere is calm — not a party campsite. Families with kids, couples, groups with dogs — that's the crowd here. The owner rents out tents and equipment too, so it's accessible even for beginners who don't own gear yet.

Sunset watching is legit here. A couple of reviewers spotted otters by the shore during golden hour — that's a bonus you don't plan for, but if it happens, you'll remember it. And fresh prawns from shrimpers? Apparently that's a thing here too. That alone would get me back.

A few campers highlighted the Penang Second Bridge view as a standout feature, especially at night. One guy said it's splendid, and honestly from the photos I've seen, that tracks. Midday heat with minimal tree cover is rough — plan your camp activities accordingly and get a good shelter going early. And if you're bringing a light-coloured or white tent, scout your pitch first and stay clear of the trees that drop debris.
