The Vibe

Campsite Tok Isa is one of those places that doesn't try too hard — and honestly, that's what makes it work. You pull up, you're right in front of the beach. No hiking in, no river crossing, no drama. Just pitch your tent under proper tree shade and you're sorted. The kind of spot your family WhatsApp group would actually agree on.

It's a simple, laid-back kampung-style beach campsite in Pengerang, Johor. The crowd here is mostly families and weekend warriors — people who want sea breeze, a campfire, and a decent night's sleep without going too far from civilization. Pengerang itself is a bit out of the way compared to other Johor spots, but that's also why it's quieter. Less chaotic than the popular east coast beach camps.

The owner runs things at a chill pace. Facilities are basic but functional — don't come expecting glamping. Come expecting honest kampung hospitality and a campsite that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Getting There

The campsite is in Kampung Punggai, Pengerang, Johor — postcode 81600. If you're coming from JB, head towards Kota Tinggi, then continue towards Pengerang. From Kota Tinggi to Pengerang is roughly another 40–50 minutes on a winding road. It's not rough, just a bit long. Normal cars are fine.

Punch in the Google Maps CID link or just search "Campsite Tok Isa Pengerang" — it should come up. If you're getting lost, call the owner at 019-786 1144. Based on what people say, the owner is contactable and helpful.

One thing to know: Pengerang is all the way at the southeastern tip of Johor. From KL, you're looking at 3.5 to 4 hours minimum. Plan accordingly.

What to Expect

Flat ground, beach right in front, trees giving decent shade. That's the setup. The camping area itself isn't huge, but it's organized and the beachfront spots are the obvious winners — grab those early if you can.

Crowd-wise, it's manageable. Not the kind of place that gets overrun with 50 groups on a Saturday. The location being a bit remote helps filter out the casual day-trippers. Most people here are overnight campers who came prepared.

This is a beginner and family-friendly campsite. Nothing technical about it. Good for first-timers wanting to try beach camping without stressing out. Hardcore jungle people might find it too tame — but that's not the point of this place.

Facilities

Toilets

Seated bowls, walking distance from the campsite. Reviews say it's reasonably clean. One reviewer mentioned the condition isn't super presentable but still usable. Manage expectations — this is a kampung beach campsite, not a resort.

Showers

Shower heads available but no hot water. Cold water only. For beach camping in Johor heat, you probably won't miss the heater.

Dishwashing Area

Only one dishwashing station outside the toilet block. It gets congested after meals, especially if multiple groups are cooking at the same time. Adjust your meal timing if you can — eat earlier or later than the crowd.

Electricity

Available for rent. One point costs around RM40 per night based on recent reviews. Optional — bring a powerbank if you don't want to pay for it.

Parking

Parking on-site. Day visitors pay RM5 per car, overnight campers pay RM20–RM40 per car depending on when you visited (pricing seems to have changed over time — confirm with the owner when you book).

What Campers Are Saying

Edward, who came with his group and stayed overnight, said the campsite is right in front of the beach with good tree shade — and would definitely come back. He paid RM40 per car for overnight and another RM40 for one electricity point. His one plea to other campers: bawa balik sampah korang. And honestly, fair point.

Shamsul said the place was very nice and clean when he visited, with clean toilets and good water pressure. He paid RM20 per night for the car entry plus RM15 for electricity — so pricing may vary, or it's changed since. Either way, still cheap for a beach camp.

Bro Vs Sis Chan noted the area is clean overall but the toilet is "not presentable" — still okay to use, just not Instagram-ready. Day trip pricing was RM5 per car, overnight RM20.

Mbah 7373 gave it five stars and called it comfortable for both camping and picnic. They also mentioned day visitors can pay per use for bathroom and toilet facilities — RM1 for shower, RM0.50 for toilet. Decent system actually.

Amin kept it real with a 3-star — good place to camp for a night or two, cook your own food, facilities are okay, but called on the owner to be more on top of garbage management. Worth keeping in mind.

TAHAN Tip

The dishwashing area is only one station and it jams up fast after dinner. Cook early — around 6pm — or cook late after 8pm when the rush is over. You'll save yourself the queue and honestly, eating while watching the sunset hit the beach is the whole point of coming here.
